All paddocks have automatic waterers that are well-insulated in the winter.

Safety is a priority and our staff provides daily night-checks to assure horses are safe and have continuous hay throughout the night.

Our staff includes experienced equine professionals with 75 combined years experience between them. Two staff members live on the property including residents of our Gate House providing added security for the farm and assuring the safety of horses and their owners.

At Sunset, we believe in quiet, patient care of all horses. We are known for our unique, supportive services for horses recovering from illness, surgery, or injury, as well as care for performance and retired horses alike.

Our staff also provides personal services including, but not limited to: holding horses for veterinarian/farrier visits; leg and injury wraps; medicine application; monitoring recovering horses; an additional third feeding as necessary; and the little things that makes boarding a worry-free experience. Some additional fees may apply.

Clients are welcome to use the veterinarian and farrier of their choice. We are centrally located with multiple large animal hospitals and diagnostic facilities no more than an hour drive. The nearest licensed veterinarian is ten minutes away.

Horses are the number one priority of our staff. We feed Triple Crown and Nurena as well as a variety of hay grown here in Maryland. We uniquely provide four varieties of forage to best suit each horses nutritional needs including, but not limited to, timothy and alfalfa.
Unsurpassed turnout including 19 pastures and paddocks surrounded by seven miles of 4-board Gardner vinyl fencing.
For the Rider
We have large tack rooms, parking for trailers, a lounge with full kitchen and shower facilities, picnic areas and stocked pond. While several trainers make a base for their training and instruction, clients are welcome to use anyone of your choice. Scheduling through our facility manager required.
For Horses
Sunset manages two boarding barns, while other are leased out to trainer. All buildings on the farm have been restored to Jerry Hoffberger’s design. Sunset Hill provides boarding in our Stallion and Bank Barns as well as room for 12 Field Board horses. It is a small, intimate boarding business with only 11 stabled horses under Sunset Hill care. The horses are turned out in huge pastures with no more than six horses each. Boarding may also be available from one of our tenant-leased barns.
Upper Outdoor ring and Indoor Arena. We also have a Lower Outdoor ring  and a permanent Dressage ring.
Rings are dragged three/week and watered as needed. Our Indoor is treated to prevent freezing.
Rates
Sunset hill boarding rates are as follows. Nominal additional fees may apply for personal services, such as holding a horse for veterinarian visits.

Field Board - $585/month
Field Board Care includes heated waterers, large run-in sheds, feed once per day, hay during winter months, and blanketing.

Stall Board - $765/month
Stall Care includes feed twice per day, hay, stall, mucking, turnout, blanketing, booting, and administration of supplements and oral medications.

Schooling - Rate Varies
Visiting riders may use our facility by reservation and on a case by case basis. Please inquire for pricing and availability.
